Giant Beetle care sheet

Hello everyone, as there are no care sheets for Giant Beetles online i will put some of my own i use on here for you.

Giant Beetle care sheet

Keeping adult beetles is easy the setup should be at least twice the lenth fo the beetle in a plastic/glass tank with a ventilated lid. the humidity must always be high so they don't dehydrate. The Substrate used if you want to breed these is decay fermented wood flake if you don't intend to breed these you could use a non toxic decayed vegetation. Braches & jelly holders are used so they can get back on there feet if they fall over beetles will not be able to get back on there feet with out something to grab on to & will be helpless & die of exhaustion. You can feed them fruit or feed them specially formulated beetle jelly it has a long shelf life & will not mold like fruits do. Keep all beetles & larvae in a cool place away from heat & sunlight as they will not tolerate it.

If you are going to breed your beetles you must keep all your beetles in separate containers. each female will need a tank with a bottem space of at least 4 times her size to increase the amount of eggs she will deposit. you should use fermented decay wood flake & it should be 2-3 times the lenth of the beetle deep.Using a spray bottle you can keep the humidity high. This is a very energy draining for the female so feeding beetle jelly to her will boost the amount of eggs laid.

A breeding log is used for Stag beetles they will lay there eggs in the log & the larvae will grow in the log. After you have your female has been mated she will start laying eggs. After 2-3 weeks carefully go though & collect the ones she has laid so she has more room to lay more eggs. Put the eggs in a vented tub use only  fermented wood flake & put the eggs in the middle of the container & put more wood flake over. When the egg hatches into L1 larvae Make sure you have lots of decayed wood to feed them & change it as its eaten.

Hope this helps i will update this with more info soon

Thanks for looking
